The Importance of Fruits and Vegetables

In today’s fast-paced lifestyle, it’s easy to forget the basics about eating right and staying healthy. It seems that many people just prefer to grab a fast food burger with an order of greasy fries and a soda instead of planning out a healthy meal. But, one of the problems with eating like this is that you don’t get the proper amount of fruits and vegetables in your diet.

How Many Fruits and Veggies Do I Need?

Fruits and Vegetables
Just like your mom probably told you to eat your fruits and vegetables as a child, it is important to get your daily servings of these as an adult too. But, how many fruits and veggies do you need to eat each day? Well, depending on your sex, age, weight, and activity level, around 2-4 servings of fruit and 3-5 servings of vegetables. Ask your physician for a diet plan suited for your needs. They will typically take all the previously mentioned factors into consideration and tell you appropriate amount needed.

Benefits of Fruits and Vegetables

Now lets talk about why fruits and vegetables are so crucial to our health and well-being. For starters, they are a prime source of essential nutrients like vitamins and fiber that our bodies need to work properly and stay healthy. The fiber in many fruits, such as bananas and acai berries, help to promote good digestive health. Vitamins, as you may already know, help with a wide number of functions, from boosting the immune system to promoting good overall health.

Antioxidant Power

A number of fruits and vegetables contain beneficial compounds known as antioxidants. Antioxidants have been getting a lot of attention in the health news recently because of their ability fight off dangerous free radicals that can break down and damage otherwise healthy cells and cause illness or disease. Everyone has these free radicals in their bodies, but having a diet rich in antioxidants can be beneficial to your health and may give you some protection against them and their adverse affects.

Some foods that contain antioxidants are:

  • Artichokes
  • Acai Berry
  • Blueberries
  • Blackberries
  • Certain Beans
  • Strwaberries
  • Apples
  • Cherries
  • Any Many More…

When choosing what foods to eat on your plate, try to include a variety of different types. For example, don’t just stick to bananas and apple, but add blackberries or even acai berry juice into your meal. A good rule of thumb is to try and mix up the color pallet of your fruits and veggies. This will help ensure you are getting a variety of nutrients that will help you stay healthy. Acai berry is a superfood, as it is a particularly healthful fruit which is high in antioxidants and can deploy a valuable rate of health benefits. However acai berry fat loss miracles do not exist and the idea that this is some miracle fruit that will melt away your fat like butter in a frying pan is a silly myth. When looking to buy any acai product online, you should steer clear of companies that offer free trials of the merchandise.
